About Silver Hill Hospital

Providing substance abuse treatment programs for teens and adults, Silver Hill Hospital offers inpatient, transitional living and outpatient programs. Inpatient treatment primarily relies on medically-based therapies. Transitional living programs emphasize more behavioral and psychological treatment strategies. Outpatient programs include detoxification followed by intensive outpatient therapies. Group therapies, including 12-step groups, are the cornerstone of Silver Hill’s programs.

Argent program was a complete waste of money. Very little testing and assessment was actually completed, and I ended up leaving the program with a misdiagnosis. Do no recommend.

This was truly a great rehab/detox. Unfortunately for me this was my first ever detox (I was 19 and had a wealthy family friend send me their, with the understanding that it was a “once in a lifetime opportunity”. Honestly, i didnt realize how lucky I was, or some may say unlucky. I was still in the early stages (just about a year or a little more) of IV heroin addiction, and a big part of me didnt want to stop, just try to clean up and take a break. NO REHAB WILL WORK WITHOUT GIVING 100%. After this, i spent 2 times in jail, one 8 months one 5 month stay, 3 more detoxes and two more rehabs These other rehabs did not compare. They honestly were a step up from jail, being on a hospital wing for all but 2 or 3 hours a week when they let us outside. Silver hill was so serene and peaceful, They let you work on yourself without acting like correctional officers and treating you like criminals, they treated us like people. The grounds were beautiful and the food was DELICIOUS. The program was also very good, however you will get that at most rehabs, they preach Aa and NA and some CBT. They had a nice gym, pool, scavetta house was great, and again the grounds were beautiful. The one warning i have, This place is more for (hopefully this doesnt come out the wrong way) Less hardcore drug users. I was with alot of stock brokers, or people who made very good money, and were there because whenever they drank they liked to do some blow and end up with a hooker. They never went through any withdrawals though, they just wanted to cut that out completely out of their lives. I dare say some were just weekend warriors who would spend their work week doing a few lines during the day, and then overindulge on the weekends. For the ones who have a more “Hardcore addiction” (Shooting up 15-20 bags of strong heroin a day) This might honestly be too much freedom and more structure might be needed coming from such a shockingly different life. Again, all addictions are tough, I just found that the ones who were there to stop buying an eightball and a hooker once a week ended up alot better. As i said at the beginning though, nothing works unless you put in 100 percent effort. If you are lucky enough to end up here, take it for all its worth, it can save a life. Fortunately im still alive, but after silver hill as i said i relapsed too many times to count, got arrested many more times, and od’ed 3 times, one time almost flatlining. Ive now been clean since 2016, silver hill was the beggining of 2012. P.S i heard hes not there anymore but Wallace was THE MAN!!! Greg was cool too, and i forgot the younger guys name but he was also really cool. All the scavetta house staff was cool. Oh except maybe Carmine, he wasnt bad but seemed not to really care about the patients as much

My son was a patient at SH a few years ago and it was an excellent springboard to his long-term recovery. He attended the 28-day TLP program as well as the intensive outpatient program which help further transition him back into the real world. Not only did he receive support, guidance and tools, but our family did as well. They conducted an excellent 4-day educational program for family members which was extraordinarily helpful for us as well. I highly recommend!

Kicked my sister out of inpatient for no discernible reason (had no broken any rules - which they admitted) and made her leave, in the snow, with no notice, on Christmas Eve. Didn’t bother to refund any of the $50,000 we’d paid and only got a week’s worth of programming for. All of these famous rehabs are trash and capitalist hogs. Most people going to rehab need TRAUMA treatment which they are not capable of providing here. And in fact, clearly, make trauma worse. Save yourself the time and trouble

I went to Silver Hill in the early 1980s to detox from Methadone maintenance. After they weaned me down from 110 mg to 0 in less than two weeks, I went through two solid weeks of soul crushing insomnia without any help from Silver Hill's doctors or staff before I couldn't take it anymore and went back on methadone maintenance. I am still on methadone maintenance in 2020 (44 years now) and the suffering I experienced at Silver Hill discouraged me from ever trying to detox again, They did send me one very large bill though. The facility is rather elegant, but comfort isn't important when you are in outrageous pain. In my book, this place damaged me for life due to their total lack of knowledge in dealing with methadone detoxes.
