Banyan is the best treatment in the country, staff is wonderful, supportive and fun but at the same time serious
I like when the staff doesn't sugar coat and tells the hard truths that need to be heard. It's like that in Amy's classes and I think she does a great service to the community of people here by being straight forward about the nature of the disease. It offers a realistic look at the reality. She holds amazing groups because she keeps it interesting by switching it up. We get to go outside sometimes or play games, and it feels like a safe place to share and open up about things I may not usually discuss. Its helped me explore more about what's going on with me and the problems that I'm facing. I think she is very relatable and understands what I've been through because she's been there herself. Its so important to go to a place that has staff that understand and if you're looking for that place, this is it.
I was doing the \"Leaving Las Vegas\" thing, slowly drinking myself to death when I found GBR. The staff was incredible, the facility clean and well maintained and if you went hungry, it was your fault. I was a little worried about the length of the program (this was my first and I naively thought they were all 28 days), but now I understand why the extra time. I wasn\'t ready to quit at 28 days, it took the extra time for me to consciously accept the fact that I was the only one that had input into my life, that no outside influence could make me do anything. Everything is one of the 10,000 or so thoughts we have everyday, including drinking. The big difference is GBR taught me how to approach those thoughts/urges, and how to be happy with my choices. Thanks to everyone there, you saved me.
