Great program. The staff helped me so much. The techs are all in recovery and they are very personable. They were always there to talk to me and give me advice when I was struggling. When there were a lot of people in there, you had to wait a while for your meds but I feel like that happens at a lot of centers. It happened at another one I went to too.
I usually don\'t write reviews, but I feel like I have to review Beachway. My mom has been struggling with pill-addiction for years. My brother and I didn\'t notice when we were still living at home - she was great at hiding her addiction, and always a wonderful and attentive mom - but when our dad got sick and died, she completely unraveled - she started drinking much more, cheap wine and beer (once I caught her drinking perfume out of a bottle) while also taking pills, and it became impossible for her to hide her addiction. In 8 months, she managed to alienate every friend she had, gain 30 pounds, almost kill her grandchild (obviously an accident, but one that only happened because she was so drunk), fall and break first an arm, then her wrist, and hurt my brother and I in ways I never imagined. When we finally did an intervention and gave her an ultimatum, she broke down and said yes to going to rehab. We chose Beachway because of the amazing location - it was important for us that she went to a place that was warm, and beautiful, lush and close to a beach. I can\'t stress enough how in dispair my brother and I were at this point - I honestly think that she would have died in a year at the most, had she not gone to rehab. We were very vulnerable, all of us. But from the second I came in contact with the staff at Beachway, they put every anxiety to rest. They immediately made my mom feel completely at ease. She\'s a proud woman and it was very hard for her to even admit she needed help, and I was worried she\'d just be in denial the whole time. Obviously my brother and I weren\'t there while she was going through her treatment, so I cant speak to specifics of how things are run there. But I do know, that my mom is still sober today, three months later - and even though she\'s still frail, she has this whole new strength to her, and hope for the future, that she attributes to the treatment at Beachway. She has been raving about the staff, the place, the different types of therapy since she left, and is even talking about relocating to Florida. She goes to AA meetings four times a week and is still in touch with a lot of the people she met at Beachway. The staff checks in with us regularly which I just love. On of the therapists told me and my brother about Al Anon - a program similar to AA but for the alcoholics\' loved ones. We go religiously and it has helped us so much. I am not naive, I know that treatment is only the first step - my mom will battle her addiction for the rest of her life. But thanks to the treatment at Beachway, and the coping tools she learned there, she - and I - really believe that she will be able to stay sober. In short - I\'m so glad she went to Beachway, I really can\'t recommend it enough.
Compassionate staff members with a strong focus on teaching the patient that it is okay to forgive themselves and to move forward. Mindfulness and recognizing triggers and behavior modification was paramount and one of the most helpful tools in the process. Staffing ratios are outstanding, there is always a staff member available for a chat. Clients are treated with respect, dignity and kindness and the teamwork approach is extremely effective. They haven't franchised yet... we need more places like this.
