Mr. Demitrius helped me a lot. Therapist Tony was real inspirational. Ms. Christina was wonderful she was very forthcoming, she shared and helped me talk about my family. Mr. Travis was a great facilitator of groups, he really helped me to open up. Mattie the Care Coordinator was helpful in getting me started here. Housekeeping was outstanding. At first the food wasn't as good as it could have been but after a while they made some great changes and put in a deli menu that gave us good options to eat. The nurses have been fantastic, sometimes they're a little slow but over all they have been wonderful. The gym was fantastic. The cafeteria and medical staff was very helpful. The peer support groups and the peer leaders were all very helpful, they are willing to help and talk to you by answering any questions. Overall it was a great experience. My wife was here with me going through treatment and our main goal was to complete treatment and find a sober living to go to afterwards. Jennifer my case manager helped us to find a sober living back home that we could attend together. She facilitated all my appointments and got my information verified for my after care through the VA. I have all my resources set up with my psychiatrist and primary doctors appointments through the VA for when I go home. My wife and I moved into the wrong neighborhood and tried to stay clean but then covid hit and we weren't able to stay clean long. I learned that I can have clear direction and bulldoze distractions. I learned not to stay isolated and keep my appointments. Its important to stay on my meds and reach out to the fellowship. I plan to do 90 in 90, get a sponsor, and go to meetings. I learned how to process my grief and I learned about the stages of grief to deal with loss. I feel so much better when Im in a sober mind. I also learned about breathing techniques and I was able to do mindfulness exercises and read my spiritual material. I would recommend River Oaks to someone needing to seek treatment.
Seaside was great for my spouse! He learned how to cope with his addiction in positive ways and has been clean since leaving the facility 4 months ago. He was able to work from the facility which made it much more convenient for him.
