Treatment Philosophy
Oxford Treatment Center is a 110 acre campus located within the Holly Springs National Forest. With a 5-acre lake, ducks, geese and beautiful undisturbed forest land, the rural setting at Oxford Treatment Center offers a tranquil healing environment. Our approach to addiction treatment is a holistic one, seeking to restore hope and health to individuals who come to us out of painful, self-destructive patterns. It’s not enough to end a physical dependency through successful medical detox. On the other side of that first step, the individual in recovery must have the right support in place to break those old habits and replace them with new ones. He or she must find a new way to fill the void that drugs or alcohol once did — essentially, find a new meaning in life. At Oxford Treatment Center, our team of dedicated professionals consists of a medical director, a board certified addictions psychiatrist, a board certified internist, and 6 board certified nurse practitioners. The most unique hallmark of our team of medical providers is an average of 8 year tenure at Oxford Treatment Center. The medical provider cohort is proud of the stability and commitment it provides to our patients.

Atlanta Recovery Place

This is a great IOP program! The staff here are awesome! They treat you very well, it is a good place to go if you are serious about getting clean. The sober living is in nice apartments that are walking distance from the IOP, there are nice tv's in each apartment. There are many stores and restaurants nearby if you are trying to get a recovery job. I highly recommend this program! I have stayed sober since graduating the program last October

Where Can I Find Alcohol Addiction Treatment Centers in Atlanta, Georgia?

Atlanta is in Fulton County, where from 1999 to 2016 there were:

  • 143 deaths from alcohol abuse
  • 406 deaths from alcohol addiction
  • 25 deaths from other alcohol problems

It’s important, if you are struggling with alcoholism, not to face the problem alone. Seeking help is the best chance for success, and thankfully there are many substance abuse facilities nearby that can help. There are 115 treatment centers within 30 miles of Atlanta, Georgia.7 Throughout the state, there are 292 facilities, 185 of which help patients who are struggling exclusively with alcohol related issues.1

atlanta georgia Different levels of care are available based on patients’ needs, including 246 outpatient, 62 residential, and 20 hospital inpatient facilities throughout Georgia.1

Within the American Addiction Centers (AAC) network, the closest facilities are Recovery First and River Oaks, located in Florida. River Oaks sits on a tranquil 26-acre plot of land in Tampa, offering a peace and calm environment to focus on recovery.

Using the AAC Addiction Labs of America, River Oaks uses genetic testing to identify which medications would be most helpful to attempt during recovery. Culturally-competent treatments are used to cater to underserved groups and achieve more effective results for marginalized communities.

Recover First offers two facilities, one in Fort Lauderdale and one in Hollywood. At the Hollywood location, Recovery First, like River Oaks, uses genetic testing and individual treatment plants to achieve maximum personalized results. The Fort Lauderdale combines these techniques with a partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs to help veterans who are struggling with addiction.

Where Can I Find Medical Detox Centers in Atlanta, Georgia?

The impact of alcohol withdrawal on your system is contingent on your level of physical dependence. Symptoms of alcohol withdrawal can be quite mild or potentially life threatening. Common symptoms of withdrawals are irritability, anxiety, agitation, high blood pressure, raised heart rate, seizures, and delirium tremens, and withdrawals can be lethal.2

Those who are strongly dependent on alcohol should not attempt to quit alone for this reason. In a medical detox facility patients are given intensive medical treatment and supervision not just to alleviate the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms but to ensure health and safety. In a medical detox facility, physicians are available at all hours.3 There are 20 hospital inpatient facilities in Georgia that offer medical detox.1

You can find detox facilities near Atlanta, Georgia by searching the SAMHSA directory here.

Does My Insurance Cover Treatment in Atlanta, Georgia?

Not all insurance plans cover addiction treatment. You will need to check with your provider to see what is covered under your plan and if that extends out of state. Some popular providers with plans that cover addiction treatment include:

State-Funded Insurance (i.e. Medicaid)

There are about 72 million Americans who are using Medicaid, a federal healthcare coverage plan that is offered primarily to adults with low income and their children.4 This program additionally offers support for people who have certain types of disabilities as well as to the elderly. Despite being partially funded by the federal government, Medicaid is administered by each state separately.4

If you applied in the past and were turned down, and your circumstances haven’t changed very much, you may still be eligible now, if you previously applied before the Affordable Care Act was passed. When the act was passed the income and asset limitations were raised to allow more people in. Even though not all substance abuse facilities accept Medicaid, there are 145 facilities in Georgia that do, making up 49.7 percent of the facilities in the state.1
