ABOUT RECOVERY CENTERS OF AMERICA AT BRACEBRIDGE HALL
Located in the community of Earleville, Md., in the Chesapeake Bay Area, Recovery Centers of America at Bracebridge Hall provides an upscale residential program for adults struggling with chemical dependency, as well as individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders. Medical detoxification is available if needed, making this facility one of just 14 rehabs in Maryland (3.6 percent of all rehabs in the state) to offer detox in a residential setting.
Bracebridge Hall is one of five residential programs operated by Recovery Centers of America (RCA). RCA operates a total of eight rehab facilities across New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, some of which also offer outpatient services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, clients participate in an initial biopsychosocial assessment to help clinicians form a highly individualized treatment program. Bracebridge Hall's treatment curriculum blends evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), 12-step participation, and holistic methods.
According to RCA's website, its residential treatment programs last up to 28 days. A 2017 SAMHSA survey indicates that 6.2 percent of rehabs in Maryland offer short-term (30 days or less) residential programs.
Much of the treatment is rooted in the 12 Steps. During treatment, clients are fully immersed into the peer-led fellowship. Clients attend on-site meetings, study fellowship literature (Big Book), perform associated “step-work,” and attend workshops that help guide residents through the 12-step process.
Along with an introduction to and participation in the 12 Steps, core programming includes a schedule of one-on-one therapy sessions, group counseling, and educational classes concerning improving coping skills, relapse prevention, and developing communication skills. Loved ones are also invited to participate in family and/or couples counseling sessions.
Holistic treatment methods include mindful meditation, creative arts therapy, psychodrama, adventure and experiential therapies, canine therapy, and spiritual counseling sessions. Before discharge, case managers form comprehensive discharge plans to provide guidance and support for community re-entry. Bracebridge Hall also facilitates an active alumni program.
