- Joshua New, LCSW, MSWCLINICAL DIRECTORJoshua New is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New Hampshire, as well as holding licenses in the state of Texas. He earned a master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of New England specializing in the treatment of addiction services. Joshua has experience developing and managing programs in the private as well as the community mental health areas of service. He has 18 years of experience working with addicts and alcoholics personally and over a decade professionally working with individuals with addiction as well as mental health issues. He is trained in EMDR as well to help more complex issues of trauma. After a history of chronic relapse to substances and multiple treatment episodes and “failed” attempts at long term recovery, he was fortunate to find a provider that believed in a long term care model and was able to develop sustainable tools of recovery and a foundation for continued spiritual growth which he passionately still pursues to his day. He is not only trained in the clinical aspects of treatment that he loves to educate and teach individuals and families about, but he is also passionate about his presentation to motivate individuals about optimizing their life in all areas and teaching people how to be empowered, shedding limiting labels and creating a life second to none. Josh’s holistic approach to treating the whole individual physical, spiritually, and emotionally appears to have the most rewarding effect for those he works with. He started his recovery working in the financial industry working as a licensed stock broker for some years before finding his passion professionally to work and serve people seeking a way out of suffering. In that process he met and married his beautiful wife of 15 years and has three amazing children whom he enjoys spending his free time with whether it be at family functions, playing basketball, swimming at the lake, or going on adventures to other states and cities. He believes no matter what as long as he is with his family and strengthening his bonds with them, life is good. A native of New England he is also an avid sports fan and loves all things Boston, but holds a huge passion for football and enjoying the Patriots during the season with his two boys and daughter. Over the last 18 years working on himself professionally and personally through his own pains and joys in recovery three principles appear to guide him daily in his recovery. Living life on life’s terms and strengthening his faith in his higher power, cultivating gratitude and personal empowerment. His belief has been that Happiness is not a destination, but a creation. One which we control and create daily based upon our own humility to remain teachable and disciplined enough to take corrective action. Years ago he remembers sitting in an indigent detox in Southern California and reading an anonymous quote stenciled on the far wall across from him, that for him began the process of his awakening. It read, “Grateful People Are Happy People and Those Who Aint, Aint.”
