Specialization

  • Medical Detoxification

Drugs and alcohol have widespread effects throughout your body, including but not limited to the addiction and/or physical/psychological dependence that develops with substance abuse over time. Many organ systems are affected by addiction and will react to withdrawal. The term “medical detoxification” means that there is a trained and licensed medical professional onsite to monitor your vital signs and protect your physical and emotional health as your body goes through withdrawal.
  • Balance

These two terms describe a person who is not only addicted to drugs or alcohol, but also has a mental or emotional illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc. Facilities that treat patients with dual-diagnosis or co-occurring disorders provide psychiatric treatment in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation services.
  • Individualized Treatment

Some facilities have an addiction treatment protocol that all patients or clients are expected to follow, while others customize or individualize treatment based on a person’s unique needs and circumstances. Factors that may affect treatment decisions include age, lifestyle, medical conditions, type of drug, religious beliefs, etc.
  • Aftercare Support

Addiction recovery does not end with discharge after completing a rehab program. Facilities that offer aftercare planning and/or support work with patients to ensure sustainable recovery by helping to plan and make arrangements for transitional or sober living, help with housing, vocational counseling, etc.
  • Freedom: For faith-based treatment

Created by ordained ministers, who are also experts in the field of addiction and recovery to ensure the needs of Christian patients are met, Freedom is a unique and life-changing Christian addiction treatment program that can help you refresh your connection to God and achieve lasting freedom from drugs and alcohol.
  • Breaking Free: for patients with Trauma

Breaking Free is a unique and life-changing program that begins the healing process for overcoming trauma and addiction to drugs or alcohol. The program is designed with an evidence-based approach that gets to the root causes of your trauma and addiction, and helps you… break free.
  • PRISE: For patients who have relapsed

PRISE: a Program Designed for Patients Who Have Relapsed The path to recovery is unique to each person struggling with addiction. For some people it takes multiple attempts at recovery, and with each passing attempt they may feel less optimistic about their future. At Recovery Centers of America, we see each attempt at recovery as a sign of commitment and hope. This specialized program uses a therapeutic, evidence-based approach designed to help those for whom recovery has been elusive. PRISE (Promoting Recovery through Intensive Support and Education) focuses patients on their recovery, rather than addiction, and focuses on a bright future
  • WorkFlex

RCA WorkFlex, a service unique to RCA, enables patients to continue fulfilling employment or education responsibilities during their time at our inpatient rehab facility. Through this treatment enhancement service, patients are empowered to keep their primary focus on their personal recovery during inpatient treatment, while having the ability to spend three hours a day maintaining virtual work and school obligations.
  • Evolutions: treatment for older adults age 50+

The Evolutions program at Recovery Centers of America is designed with adults 50+ in mind. Whether you are at a transition point in life involving retirement, your children leaving the home, or your health deteriorating, you are not alone. ABOUT RECOVERY CENTERS OF AMERICA AT LIGHTHOUSE

Located in the scenic community of Mays Landing, just inland from New Jersey's southern shore, Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse (RCA Lighthouse) provides medical detox, residential care, and outpatient treatment for individuals struggling with problematic substance use and dual diagnoses. The center is among the 4.1 percent of New Jersey facilities that offer medical detox in a residential setting.

RCA operates a total of six residential treatment centers, in Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, plus several outpatient centers in the region.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment ethos at Recovery Centers of America is built around the 12-Steps, supplemented by counseling, evidence-based treatments, and holistic options.

In the residential program, clients participate in individual and group therapy that uses such evidence-based methods as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), that latter of which is used at 60.5 percent of New Jersey facilities, mindfulness, and motivational enhancement therapy.

Residents also receive educational sessions on the nature of addiction and recovery, relapse prevention training, and leadership training sessions. Weekly family meetings are held for loved ones and include educational workshops and multi-family group therapy.

Outpatient options include a partial hospitalization program (PHP), offered at 23 percent of New Jersey facilities, which consists of approximately 25 hours of treatment a week, and an intensive outpatient program, (IOP) that meets three days a week for three hours at a time. An alumni program offers education, support, and access to community events.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team includes licensed social workers and addiction counselors. The five individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the staff were mostly impressed.

Staff Experience and Training: 4/5

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Pictures published on the center’s website indicted full-sized beds in bright, airy rooms, and some outdoor space. Yoga is also offered as an integral part of treatment. The six individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's cleanliness and exercise and leisure offerings gave lukewarm feedback.

Cleanliness: 3.5/5
Exercise and Leisure: 3/5

In March 2016, Business Wire reported that the facility had undergone extensive renovations following its purchase by Recovery Centers of America. The remodel reportedly included new furniture, upgraded technology, and more gourmet dining options.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The nearly two dozen alumni polled by Rehabs.com to date gave overwhelmingly positive feedback, praising the facility's amenities, serene atmosphere, and staff. "This is a beautiful establishment, one of the best I've ever been to and I am grateful for my time here. I will miss seeing all the staff everyday," Ashley wrote in a typical comment.

Numerous reviewers reported that they had attended treatment at several other facilities, and this was the best, and some even credited the center with saving their lives. "I had a really good experience the place was beautiful. I loved all the staff! I went to all the outside meetings they took us to. They also took us to get our nails done, to the movies and for pizza," Jessica wrote in another representative review.

However, one or two reviewers left complaints about the facility, most often complaining about inadequate treatment programming. "While the overall amenities and meals are good the actual meat of their program, which is supposed to be counseling and group instruction is the cheapest form of therapy you can provide that insurance will let them bill," A.F. wrote in a representative review.

Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse also has mostly positive feedback on secondary sites at the time of this writing, with average ratings of 4.2 out of five stars based on 21 reviews on Google and 4.7 stars based on 31 reviews on Facebook, where the facility can manage its own page.[1] [2]

Like alumni polled by Rehabs.com, the reviewers often emphasized how caring the staff was. "Just completed their residental program today and I will say it's not always ran perfectly but the staff is really caring towards every client & their life!" Patricia wrote in a representative review on Google.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Reviews submitted to Rehabs.com by loved ones were mostly positive, though the four loved ones polled on the facility's offerings in a variety of treatment metrics gave it lukewarm ratings.

Counseling Options: 3/5
Holistic Offerings: 2.7/5
Family Participation: 2.5/5

More than one reviewer cited a lack of follow-up and aftercare, and some also echoed alumni by complaining of inadequate services during their loved one's residential stay. "There was no follow-up at all from The Lighthouse," Gail wrote in one representative review; "Very poor treatments. Granddaughter spent time there and hated it," an anonymous reviewer added.

However, other reviewers disagreed entirely, noting that treatment had been effective for their loved ones. "This rehab did wonders for my daughter. If it wasn't for her two counselors, I don't think my daughter would be alive," D.C. wrote in a particularly glowing review.

FINANCING

According to its website, RCA Lighthouse is in-network with most private insurance plans and offers some financing options, though the details of these are not specified at the time of this writing. The five individuals polled by Rehabs.com to date on the center's affordability gave lukewarm feedback:

Affordability: 3.6/5
