I was shipped from one of their larger facilities to here. This place saved my life we were in our own world out there where the world you lived in could touch you. Every single person there top to bottom was a professional. 5 years later still sober and wondering if the place is still in operation. A truly special place. Never gave up on me

First thing people need to realize when reviewing this place is that they are majority Medicaid funded and take Medicaid all throughout the state- few inpatient facilities do that. Leslie is an amazing director who believes in second chances and dedicates her life toward this place. That said-if you have private insurance that will cover inpatient rehab go elsewhere. This place was only running at 3/4 capacity (15/20 beds being occupied) while every other rehab is at full capacity. There's a reason for this. Most patients come straight from jail. Many get away with stuff they wouldn't get away with at other facilities because money is tight and because occupancy isn't ideal for WDR. I can say there were at least 6-8 people that came in and out during my four week stay that shouldn't have been there. If you get kicked out of this place you must be a severe screw up because there were so many instances I said to myself wow this wouldn't fly at a facility that isn't hurting for money and or patients. You get next to zero counseling aside from being pressured into staying at one of white deer runs recovery houses (see how they make money off addicts from beginning to end). Most people get daily counseling at private rehab and pa regulations dictate that you receive an hour of counseling a week. This does not happen. Chef is Amazon and cares a lot a great deal about patients. Techs are ok-you get what you pay for and at $10 an hour your not getting the best of the best. Leslie does best she can with activities with limited budget by getting instructed to come Thursdays for Yoga. That's awesome as well as drum circle. You get to go to outside meetings but it's split up since they don't have staff to drive everyone so they split meetings into alcoholics and heroin drug addicts- AA for alcoholics and NA for drug addicts. I wet almost two weeks without going to an outside meeting. They have good number of people who are kind enough to bring meetings to is in out very remote location. Gym and weight area wasn't operational so during rec time our exercise options were limited. Overall it's adequate if your on Medicare and are Out of control and are in dire need of help. If you have private insurance try and get into a better facility as tough as that sounds. Best advice I have is spend more time giving individual counseling and start working on exit plan from day one instead of last ten days your in treatment. This will prevent people from overstaying their welcome since a few people were there for over six weeks because they had no bed in recovery house since they waited til last minute to deal with issue. Give computer time for patients to work on resume an get interviews and jobs set up for when they leave if they don't have a job already. Don't wait until someone is so much of a problem they destroy the community as I experienced. Fix weight area and allow access daily for patient to establish and maintain good exercise regiment. And for gods sake don't accept people for smoking pot. They are just distractions and will be exposed to world of hard drugs. More harm than good.

The facility is in a peaceful, isolated setting. My daughter started drinking a week after she was released. I desperately wanted my daughter to have a mental health evaluation and told the staff so. I believe my daughter has some sort of mental illness other than addiction and self-medicates herself with alcohol. She was never given an psychiatric evaluation while at White Deer Run despite my urging.
