Huntington Creek Recovery saved my daughter's life, in my opinion. She was down to 80 lbs and near death from multiple addictions, including iV heroin use, when she was driven down that 6 mile rural road in Shichshinny,, PA. Although we never gave up hope, she had. By the fourth day she called me. i was expecting 'pick me up', but instead, when i asked her how she was doing, she answered me "I feel great.. This place is amazing.' She even praised the food ....which helped her to reach a normal, healthy weight. She has not yet looked back, although i am not a Pollyanna and know the road to recovery is long and full of temptations. After 28 days, our daughter, restored to physical health and much improved emotionally , spiritually and in every way, went on to a sober living facility, where she continues her recovery.. i cannot thank God enough for this 12 step based program or for the dedication and inspiration she received from the clinical and technical staff. God bless this facility and the people who run it.
The facility is very nice and well-maintained and provides great amenities to patients (yoga and other classes, very nice meals, etc.). They are very good with flexible stays (30 day, 90 day, etc.), and all of the staff I interacted with (and from what I know of my brother's time at the facility, he would concur) was very friendly and compassionate. The staff is very friendly and compassionate, but seems stretched pretty thin with patients. I know sometimes it was hard for my brother to track someone down when he needed staff assistance. This is overall a very good facility - the best in the Pittsburgh area, in my opinion.
I was a client at avenues for 6 months. I found it to be professionally run by caring people. Right now I have 1 year clean with more to go.my counselor was crummy but all the others were good, don't worry he has since left.the living arrangements were fine and the food they provided was sufficient. You cooked for yourself. When the young guys cooked you got hot dogs and burgers .when the older ones cooked you ate salmon, pork shoulders, pork chops etc. It was hit or miss but never bad. Plus you could make what you wanted. The patient techs were good and helpful. One in particular pat would literally go to the ends of the earth to help you. Gotta love the guys genuiness and caring demeanor. The housing manager devin was really good also. Sadly I've been in quite a few rehabs and I would rate avenues an 8 out of 10. I would recommend it to family and friends. I learned alot there which helps me now.you can only get better coming here. Jamie lorber
