Treatment Philosophy
Oxford Treatment Center is a 110 acre campus located within the Holly Springs National Forest. With a 5-acre lake, ducks, geese and beautiful undisturbed forest land, the rural setting at Oxford Treatment Center offers a tranquil healing environment. Our approach to addiction treatment is a holistic one, seeking to restore hope and health to individuals who come to us out of painful, self-destructive patterns. It’s not enough to end a physical dependency through successful medical detox. On the other side of that first step, the individual in recovery must have the right support in place to break those old habits and replace them with new ones. He or she must find a new way to fill the void that drugs or alcohol once did — essentially, find a new meaning in life. At Oxford Treatment Center, our team of dedicated professionals consists of a medical director, a board certified addictions psychiatrist, a board certified internist, and 6 board certified nurse practitioners. The most unique hallmark of our team of medical providers is an average of 8 year tenure at Oxford Treatment Center. The medical provider cohort is proud of the stability and commitment it provides to our patients.

We also offer music, art, and trauma-informed therapies, in addition to the usual group and individual therapy courses. We also have a variety of treatment modalities, including but not limited to cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and dialectical behavior therapy. Recovery involves much more than giving up substances; it involves a whole new way of living and connecting with yourself and others. At Oxford, we have an ideal environment that allows us to provide a whole host of activities and amenities that allow you to connect to nature, reflect, restore your physical health, and reconnect. Whether you want to focus on strengthening your body at our fitness centers, meditate on the banks of our private lake, or work with animals in our equine therapy program, our facility will provide a variety of features to not only make your time with us enjoyable, but to give you the best possible head start in recovery. While your recovery toolkit will have filled up nicely by the end of your time with us, not everybody is ready to move forward alone. Oxford’s aftercare planners and alumni coordinators will make sure you have a plan and a support network for transitioning back into the world after treatment. We also know the importance of making and maintaining a network of sober individuals, so we’ll connect you with local AA and 12-step chapters and with a national alumni network to provide you with a comprehensive support network for recovery.

More Info

If you are or know somebody who is struggling with alcohol addiction or abuse, you aren’t alone. Over 16 million American adults suffer from alcohol abuse along with over half a million teens.

Memphis TennesseeIn Memphis, TN, from 1999 to 2016, there were:

  • 142 deaths from alcohol abuse
  • 304 deaths from alcohol addiction
  • 12 deaths from alcohol withdrawal-induced delirium
  • 60 deaths from other alcohol problems

What is Alcohol Addiction Treatment?

If you suspect that you or someone you care about has an alcohol use disorder (alcoholism), it may be time to seek professional help. No matter how serious the problem seems, people can recover from alcoholism and live happier, more productive lives. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) reports that alcohol addiction treatment can be very effective, with research showing “that about 1/3 of people who are treated for alcohol problems have no further symptoms 1 year later.”

Effective treatment may involve medications to ease withdrawal symptoms, therapy through a rehabilitation program to understand the addiction and change behaviors, and long-term aftercare programming such as peer support groups to help maintain sobriety and avoid relapse.

Why Choose an American Addiction Centers Facility

Alcohol.org is a subsidiary of American Addiction Centers (AAC) which offers a nationwide network of facilities, an alumni support system, quality care, and a 90-day promise. Whether located in your city or in a state near you, at AAC facilities you’ll find quality care and custom plans offering a wide range of treatment options and different levels of care to best fit your needs.

AAC’s goal is to put your recovery first so that you get the most out of your experience. They provide a knowledgeable team of doctors, clinicians, and counselors to not only address substance abuse but also co-occurring mental illness, physical wellness, social issues, and more. Further, if a person relapses after completing 90 days of treatment at an AAC program, they can return for 30 days of complimentary treatment.

As an AAC alumnus, you’ll get the opportunity to interact with other alumni across the country through hosted gatherings and events. Plus, alumni coordinators check-in regularly to ensure those recovering from substance abuse benefit from continued support.

Where Can I Detox From Alcohol?

Alcohol withdrawal symptoms can be dangerous and even life-threatening, and make quitting extremely difficult. Find a nearby medical detox center to start your recovery safely.

Understanding Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a chronic and relapsing disease that causes an inability to control your drinking, compulsive alcohol abuse, and/or emotional distress when you stop. Women who drink more than 7 and men who drink more than 14 drinks in a week are at an increased risk.
