I am not even sure where to start. Turning Point Centers helped my loved one find himself, his life and his way back from a very dark place. They also healed my family when I felt like it was falling apart. When I got a phone call that this family member needed help, there was so much fear that came out as anger, shame and blame. \"How can my son be an addict?\" \"Where did I fail him as a father?\" \"Why would he choose drugs over his family?\" The anger kept growing this family member fell into the trap of despair. His heart was broken; he was terrified of the thought of losing his son and didn\'t know what to do. Although he was in despair, he was also uneducated about the world of addiction and just thought his son could \"just say no,\" and “stop at any time.\" This is when I reached out to one man who worked extensively with my family. This was not an easy task, call after call and conversation after conversation, he showed how much he cared about the wellbeing of not only the loved one suffering with addiction, but my family. Treatment finally took place. I cannot thank him enough for working so patiently with my family. I know that fear must have come out as anger in more than one conversation over the phone, and he may have felt that from my family, but I saw the tears, the heartbreak and the sorrow- thank you for not giving up. The admissions department at Turning Point cares so much about each and every one of their clients, without his patience and caring heart, I don\'t know where my loved one would be today. Once in the center, the therapists were incredible. I would hear from my loved one several times a week. His therapist was professional, nurturing and pushed him to see his worth and find himself. The repair that happened was incredible. Not only did my loved one express the desire (to me) that he wanted to be sober, but he also expressed several times how hard, AND amazing, his sessions were with Natalie. The non 12 step approach is so beneficial. The therapy helped him understand why he turned to using and what he had been missing his whole life. His therapy with his therapist helped him discover parts of himself that he had forgotten about. He described feeling whole again. His therapist had a solid aftercare plan for my loved one and he just graduated from the program. He was in the program for 1 year. We got our loved one back, he got himself back. The whole programing at Turning Point is wonderful. As a loved one, I have been blessed to be a part of the journey. Thank you, thank you, from my whole heart, thank you.
Sadly, I had to come to Aqua twice, as I suffered a major relapse after a year and a half. However, Aqua is an amazing place. If you are willing to put in the work, they are willing to challenge you. If you need a softer approach, they can do that as well. I took my addiction head on the second time and was challenged to stay longer, I wish I had. Their outreach is terrific and during my relapse, they were ready to welcome me with open arms and zero judgement. Though you attend AA and NA meetings, you choose you recovery path, for me it was Refuge Recovery. The food is amazing and often you are a part of preparing it! Eat breakfast looking over the waterfall as the deer munch away and the ducks dabble in the pond below. They keep you busy from morning until night; and for me at least, that is a good thing. Idle hands....... I rocked my recovery as hard as I could. I saw others not do so well, if you go to Acqua and lament the way the staff don't allow you to "do what you want," or "treat you like a child." Well my friend, just remember how well your choices have gone so far; there is a reason many of the employees here are in Recovery themselves. They've made decisions that have led to continued sobriety; perhaps listen to what they have to say. Leave the ego at home and you will blossom here; drag it along and you only hurt yourself. The facilities are amazing, the was a Mill in the Mid to Late 1800's and you can feel the history. The beds are amazing, gas fireplaces in your room, waterfall showers, jetted tubs and some amazing views! The grounds are stellar, with paths meandering here in there allowing for privacy when needed. There are geese, swans, ducks and songbirds galore. Groups are held often and can be challenging but also life-altering. Again, leave your ego at home and you'll be amazed what your fellow "Aquanauts" will teach you. I appreciate the fact that Aqua doesn't handle these groups with kid gloves. I've been in 2 IOP's and the groups are sterile and stifled.........not at Acqua. Here they encourage you to let your true emotions come to the surface. It can be hard to hear some things about yourself; there are often tears, but I found these peer comments to be more powerful than I could have imagined. Come ready to learn. There is high turnover, but I've come to learn this is common in Rehab facilities. If Aqua is reading this, my only slightly negative comment is to spend some more funds on Recreational Activities. I know we are in rehab, not on vacation, but I was amazed at how the group was always brought closer together during Rec. If you are looking at Residential Rehab my friend, don't hesitate, strike while the iron is hot. Save your life, act now. I can solidly recommend Acqua. ND
