Facility Highlights

  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
  • Group, individual and family therapy
  • Motivational interviewing

Specialization

  • Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Patients who undergo intensive outpatient treatment continue to live at home and sometimes go to school or work while participating in a highly structured treatment protocol that is focused on ending substance abuse. Programs vary in terms of how much treatment patients receive, how often and for how long. Some facilities design individualized intensive outpatient treatment programs.
  • Family Program

Research shows that the odds of successful, sustained recovery from addiction are far higher when family members and loved ones are involved in treatment. Drug and alcohol addiction often have genetic roots, whether related to substance abuse, mental illness or both. Family dynamics also play a role and, often, family members are the first to realize a loved one has developed an addiction. Also, it’s important for family members to understand and embrace the lifestyle changes that are required to sustain recovery.

I would NOT recommend this facility, especially not for people who are working solely on alcohol issues. All of the community at the facility when I attended were working on narcotic issues and it was a bad environment for me. The intake process at Virginia Baptist hospital took over 8 hours and when I arrived at the “lodge” there was no food but Fruit Loops. That day they had an actual fire on the grounds because someone threw a lit cigarette on the ground and the mulch caught on fire. The week before the basement flooded because of a plumbing issue and the washing machine was not working. Don’t go here and look for other option that are better suited for alcohol treatment if that is your issue. However, I did find the counselors and staff at the lodge to be considerate and caring towards the patients.

Absolutely DO NOT attend this retreat if you or your loved one is at all serious about getting clean. While my sisters was a patient here, one of the patients here snuck in drugs and distributed them to the other patients. This is more of a summer retreat than any sort of wellness program- the regulations are lax, nobody checked me or the bags I brought into the facility on visitation day, and they take the patients into town to shop or participate in activities in public settings, and apparently don't keep track of what they're doing or bringing back when they return. When I talked to the other patients, serveral told me they'd been back to the same facility several times, dozens of times in some cases. I just can't bring myself to put one scrap of faith in the efficacy of the practice here. This is not a healthy environment for adults of any level.

I cannot recommend Pathways enough. The only complaint I can truly give is the quality of the food. But during my stay (December-January 2016-17) I did notice improvements in the meal quality. Considering how awesome the facility is though I don\'t think the food should discourage anyone from going to Pathways.

I\'m so grateful for my time at Pathways. The staff was helpful and accessible, the vibe was laid-back and the view was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much. It\'s exactly what I needed in that it provided a strong foundation for my recovery. I was there for ~23 days and am coming up on 90 days sober!
